About the Lyric singers
The Southport Lyric Singers is a mixed voice (SATB) choir of about 30 singers plus conductor and two accompanists. We are non-political and non-sectarian and the object is to study and practise music in order to foster public knowledge and appreciation by means of public performance and assist and support charitable institutions.
Our repertoire
Our repertoire is extremely varied and includes the music of Lehar, Strauss, Lionel Monckton, Romberg, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Lloyd Webber to name but a few. We perform selections from the Black and White Minstrels, Les Miserables, Oliver, as well as traditional songs, folk songs and anthems.
Rehearsals
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30 (with a tea break!) in the small hall at Scarisbrick New Road Baptist Church (near the roundabout at the end of Eastbank Street).
